Over 1400 Germany pictures - Oldenburg Innenstadt

2 April

"A heartfelt welcome to Oldenburg!"

The university had a brunch for all the foreign students today.  It was a good time and nice of them to do.

Both Catrin Gahn and the President of the University spoke to us.

I already knew Aliya (from Kazakhstan), and she met Olga and Tomara from Russia and introduced them to me.  Later on they made dinner for Kurt and I.

We were then given a campus tour.  Right:  Mara (Originally from Italy, lives in Wisconsin, studying in Germany this semester), Tomara (Russia), Aliyr (Kazakhstan), Olga (Russia) Trish (Wisconsin), Joni (Colorado), Kurt (Colorado), and the woman on the far right is from Italy.

As I've already mentioned elsewhere on this site, Germany is way ahead of the US in terms of recycling.  This is the Mullsortieren (trash sorting) in the Mensa (left), and a regular trash sorting bin on the sidewalk.  After lunch, everyone sorts their waste by Gruner Punkt (things like glass and paper that can be recycled), Biotonne (left over food waste), and restmull (whatever doesn't fit the other categories).

Germany Map - where I lived

I lived and studied at the German university in Oldenburg which is near Bremen, and about two hours east of Hamburg, Germany.  Clearly visible on the map are Bremen and Twistringen, Germany.  When I go back, I'd like to visit Hannover and Berlin, as well as Cologne.  Also, I'd like to visit more German castles, Because I only visited two in Nuremberg.  Click on the buttons on this page to see pictures and advice about studying abroad in Germany (and traveling advice for France), or click the links below to go to strive4impact.com's other pages.
