Hi!
My name is Jonathan. On this page, I've listed the five best international calling
card searches for global calling that I know of. There is a lot of
confusing information out about international calling cards and making long distance
calls. So I've tried to make this calling advice page very simple and easy to understand. Contrary to popular belief, there is no such
thing (in my experience), as a free calling card. If you know of free
calling cards, please
email me!
Why do I know so much about prepaid calling cards? Well, I've used prepaid calling cards around the world. In my international travels to Germany, China, Holland, Italy, France, Canada, and Mexico, and my national travels to 21 of the U.S. states, I've had a lot of time to experiment with calling cards. I've had a lot of experience finding out which calling cards are the best, and which calling cards simply don't deliver what they promise. If you would like more advice about purchasing calling cards, you can visit my other calling advice pages. Thank-you for your visit and I hope it helps you to find a cheap calling card, as well as save some money on your long distance bills!

Callingcards.com
calling card manufacturer Just like Noblecom and Prepaidonline.com, this calling card search box allows you to search the calling cards available through callingcards.com. They also have some great rates on international calling and can help you search for a great rate for whatever country you would like to call. Cognigen The Cognigen web site offers its visitors the ability to search for rates on everything from calling cards to DSL service. In addition to having their own calling card and long distance services, they allow you to sign up for other calling services through their web site. The only possible downside is that they offer so many services that you might have to come back to sign up for a few more, but their offers for calling cards and long distance have some of the best rates I've seen. |

IDT Long Distance and Global Call card IDT's web site says that they were "among the few to anticipate the calling card 'explosion' of the last few years, and one of the only companies able to channel, direct, and expand the calling card industry. We sell over 180 million cards worldwide every year, with sales of over $1 billion, and market hundreds of different calling cards designed to meet the needs and requirements of numerous companies, communities, and consumers." That may not be that important to you (which would make sense), but what it does mean is that IDT has the infrastructure and experience to be able to provide you with a cheap calling card rate. I have also read that they have some great deals on long distance calling, but I haven't signed up for their long distance yet, so I couldn't say for sure if their long distance is as good as their calling cards. |
These are the five best calling card manufacturers/providers I know of.
A bit about calling cards, gift
cards, and something of history of calling cards (will be expanded soon.)
Card manufacturers have lost some phone calling card business because of consolidation
in the industry and because some prepaid plans don't require plastic calling cards.
But that doesn't diminish the historical importance of phone calling cards, a
manufacturer says.
Six years ago, consumers were paying up to 30 cents a minute for long distance
with a calling card, but prices have dropped to about 7 cents a minute. The
reduction in price has caused some people to drop out of the calling card
business, says Gordon Kramer, president of the International Card Manufacturers
Association.
"A significant number of people who were buying and selling time have
disappeared because of the price crunch," says Kramer. "The potential customer
base for a calling card manufacturer has become smaller."
Not all calling cards are printed on plastic now, he notes, because some people
who sell them have switched to less expensive paper calling cards.
Although now in decline in certain respects, phone cards have made the success
of other prepaid calling cards possible, says Kramer.
"On the positive side," he says, "as a result of stored-value phone
calling cards, you
now see the rise in gift cards and debit cards. If people didn't first accept
phone calling cards, they wouldn't be accepting gift cards."
