First, if you want your porch roof to naturally flow into an existing roof line, you might want to consider doing so by making sure that your roof frame matches the pitch of the roof of the house. 

Second, you can order scissor trusses to form a ceiling space in the porch with a raised feel.

Third, most designs for porch roofs create an overhang, which is also known as a rake, at the gable end.  This will protect the end wall from sudden downpour, hail, snow, sleet, falling ice, etc.  While most porch roof overhangs are somewhere between one to two feet, it is a good idea to match the house's overhang, if you want your porch to blend in naturally with the look and feel of your house.

Fourth, when you get to adding soffits, fascia and trim boards to resemble the house's trim, you will probably want to closely match the house's existing look and feel.
