Cabo San Lucas

Okay... so to recap the story...  Carrie is the BEST WOMAN EVER!  She calls me to say "Can you get free the weekend of..."
And I'm like, "Why?"

She says "A surprise!"

The Surprise was a TRIP TO CABO SAN LUCAS!!!

This was a totally, totally, totally awesome trip!!!

The pictures above, and the pictures below are all of our hotel in Cabo San Lucas.

Some of them are the view from out of our window, which looked right at the harbor.  So cool!

It was so great!  We could hear the Cabo ocean gently lapping in the harbor, and watch the boats come in every evening.

We didn't really get up early enough to watch them go out in the morning.
(That might have had something to do with the fact that the resort was all-inclusive...)

We stayed on the harbor side of Cabo San Lucas, and got the all-inclusive pacakge at the Costa Real resort.

So, a little about the Costa Real, in case you're traveling to Cabo San Lucas.

It's an incredible hotel, with an awesome swimming pool and hot tub, very friendly hotel staff, and an open air bar on the main level.
(Where we spent a bit of time each afternoon.)

In fact, the only complaint, and I mean ONLY complaint, we had about the Costa Real, was the bed.

I slept in the hammock, and I love the sound of the ocean, so that wasn't a problem at all...

but sleeping on the bed was literally like sleeping on a rock.  A very flat, very solid, long rock.

(Sans rock bed,) Our hotel really was great!

--------------

One day, I arranged for Carrie and I to go snorkeling.  Hey, it was the least I could do!  SHE took ME to MEXICO!!!

We agree that the snorkeling was definitely our favorite part of the trip.

We took the Pez Gato II.  There's me, posing by the boat.
We loved it.  The crew was great... served us lunch, hosed us off with warm water when we got out of the ocean...

I would definitely snorkel with them again!

Normally, lover's Beach is between these rocks (in the fourth picture from the right)...  but the tide was unusually high, so we couldn't even see the beach.  Not a big deal though.

We actually saw about 30 seals, one of which was barking up a storm, which for both of us was pretty dang cool!

Wish I had some pictures of the fish from while snorkeling... will have to take an underwater camera next time.

Learning Experience in Mexico:  When jumping into 63 degree water, the body cools down pretty quickly.
But that doesn't mean that the sun isn't burning you.  Carrie and Jonathan got TORCHED!!!

But it was worth it.  We loved snorkeling, despite the sunburns.

Oh, a snorkeling trip tip:Get some dry, crusty bread and stick it in a shorts pocket of your swim trunks...
preferrably a velcro pocket... then take it out little pieces at a time.  The fishies love it!

I always have at least one favorite picture, whenever I travel anywhere.
In the case of Cabo San Lucas, this picture is my favorite.
It's from the opposite side of Cabo San Lucas harbor, looking back at the Costa Real, our hotel.
