Even In The Darkness

by Jonathan Kraft

Waking up on a cold winter's day
Raindrops on my window seem to say
There will be no end to the gray
I think to escape, but I don't know the way.

What place would I find, and where?
Winter is everywhere - and here
The night is so cold.

What does the future hold?

Will there be light?
Will I ever again take flight?

On the wind a voice calls to my ear
not to despair... a rainbow is near
How long will I wait for it to appear?

Snow's frozen blanket falls from a cloud
Covering goodness and light with it's shroud

Time has frozen... too cold even for tears
Stuck in darkness I'm left with my fears

But even in the blackest of night
My life at it's winter, I must regain sight.

I must not despair, a rainbow is near
I must have active faith, and help it re-appear.

Even in the darkness of this room
There's a ray of light helping new life to bloom.

Hi strive4impact!
Below there's my draft to a rhyming poem called "Winter", and it's about a man that is trapped in one season (Winter) while dealing with his deepest fears - yet he believes in a ray of light (rainbow) in this grey empire he lives in.
I'd like the reader to feel empathy and believe that man will meet the ray of light eventually.

The rhyming poem should use many winter motives such as : rain, cold, grey, rainbow, cloudburst, freeze, and etc.
Here's my draft:

"Waking up to a cold winter day
The first rain, on my window (play)
carrying along all that gray

Traveling far away
Without knowing where
The Winter is here

Even if the night is so cold
You can never know what the future will hold
The wind whispers to my ear
So I wait for the rainbow to appear

On a cloudburst
the time has frozen
Drowning in a river of tears
the seasons won't change
leaving me to face my worst fears

Even if the night is so cold
You can never know what the future will hold
The wind whispers to my ear
So I wait for the rainbow to appear

It's so dark in my room
suddenly a ray of light emerge...bloom...."

Since English is not my native language conflicts may arise, plus I couldn't figure out the ending (2 last sentences).

Please feel free to rephrase and incorporate your touch.
Thanks!
BR, Gil
